For my father birthday, i'm building DNN web to his office.
I want to embed support tickets module to allows his customers to open tickets
and for his emplyees to review and change the tickets status.

I've just played with Enterprise forms module, it's pretty cool, it allows creating
forms and basic workflows very fast.
I noticed there are few forms modules, i would love to get recommendation & criticism about
module you had experience with. I want to be sure i buy the right module for me.

Thanks.

for dnn 3.x  I always used dnnjungle visual studio and codesmith templates ...  then used MyGeneration (app theory)

http://forums.asp.net/p/916159/1039747.aspx#1039747

4.x
now I am trying dnnkickstart.com and socani.org

I will report back soon ..

really is a shame the old ones were never truly migrated to 4.x...  because they did save me a lot of time, I knew how to use them, they worked..    dang it  :(

There are new visual studio templates out..  look in the forum extending dnn 4.x  visual studio 2005 ..     I have not tried them yet though....

People try to get forms modules to do too much... there are inherent limitations to forms module that make them a poor choice when you want a more interactive application like a ticketing system. You'd be better off buying some kind of ticketing system like ActiveCases. Unfortunately I don't have any direct experience with any DNN based solution, though I'm considering building one. FogBugz is really nice for it's e-mail handling capabilities and simple, clean interface. I use dotProject for my tickets and project tracking.

David-

Could you expand on "inherent limitations"?

Thanks

By that, I simply mean, some things are best done through code by a real programmer. Forms modules are created to allow a non-technical user to create their own forms, receieve notification on submission, and view reports of all submissions. They are a great solution when you need to collect fairly basic data.

Certainly XMod, Enterprise Forms and others have added workflow and other functionality to add more power while still providing good flexibility. But the fact is, once you get past a certain level of complexity, a custom coded solution or getting a module made for that specific purpose is the best way to go.
