I installed the DNN on Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2005 with sharepoint services.

After the successful installation of the DNN as I logged in the system the menu items for the host and admin were disappeared.

I checked the installation with the DNN version 4.4.1, 4.5.1 and 4.5.3 but every time I got same behaviour of the system.

I also installed the same install package on Windows XP and every thing is working properly.

I also checked the DB and all the data is same in tables Users, UserRoles, aspnet_users for the database.

Can anyone give some clue or hint what I should do for this behaviour of the DNN system.

Any idea or suggestion will be of great value.

An update for the problem

The [User] token of skin is not displaying the Logged-In user Display name.

But in anonymous mode this token display the register link to the user.

There are some services of the share point services 2.0 that are not permitting the application to execute the desired functionality.

Does any one know what http module OR http handler should be granted permissions in the web config file so that my application can be functional with all the features of DNN.

After the fresh installation as i navigate to the portal. I was unable to view the host and admin menus.

Also the [user] token for skin was not displaying my "Display Name" but it displays the register link for anonymous access to the portal.

Does the [user] token uses the cookies to display the name or get the Display name from DB and show to the user.

I check by restarting the IIS server.

This happened to me recently, where I lost all menu items except the Home tab. I checked in the DB and the data was there.

I ended up getting my web.config via FTP, opened it in TextPad and saved, then upoaded via FTP. When you restart the application via the host settings it also saves web.config and forces an application reload.

After uploading web.config via FTP all tabs came back from the dead.

It sounds like you have direct server access, so just open web.config and save it, that will restart the application.
