Well I am actually gobsmacked with what I have just found out..... If you have seen my first two posts since joining the DNN Community and due to our companies website's consumer target market audience being persons who suffer physical and intellectual challenges through their daily lives, (Hence my need to ask up on the previous posts about how well DNN program fits / complies with W3C / DDA compliancy before I go ahead and start to use it) I while looking for an external HD on eBay thought I would run a page of their site through my FireFox Developer Toolbar and to my amazement they have several hundred errors in both CSS, HTML and no doubt Section 508 and WAI but the latter two I haven't bothered if they fail the first two.
Now my reason for posting this is it does make you wonder that if eBay have the financial clout they do, one why aren't they being progressive to make themselves compliant, (It is now a proven fact that if you do you will increase your incoming customer revenue) two how the heck have they not being taken to task by the UK bodies to do something about it.
It is the large corporate companies that really need to make a stand with web accessibility in my honest opinion, otherwise smaller developers and web designers don't see the differences of change and the benefits. We all often look up to larger companies and if they make moves to develop certain things etc, then we as a nation tend to start to contemplate the changes those companies make for our own end and benefit, not to mention the end users.
Well I have spent a couple of hours reading posts and posting a few initial ones to introduce myself to you all, so now I think I will go and watch the inside of my eyelids for once and take a breather, agast that such a large company as eBay are 'currently' doing so badly with their live site.
