I just wondered if anybody would want to comment on MS's open license model, and how it could effect dotnetnuke if at all?

Cheers!

It doesn't effect us at all, as we use the BSD license which is a recognised OSI licence. In this case Microsoft are simply trying to get their own versions of certain licences recognised as OSI compliant, so they can then be recognised as an "official" open source contributor (plus they then will hope that users of sites such as codeplex will utilise their licence, allowing them to state that they are a strong supporter of opensource in the right areas [Steve Ballmer has already stated that opensource is general is not applicable to many areas of Microsoft as it does not add shareholder value])

Not going to happen. It's already under a Shared Source license, and certain institutions and companies can access parts of the code.
