Hi All,

I recently create a site with 300 pages and shared common modules (mainly HTML/Text) across most of the pages.

Some of the new modules are a Copy of an existing module ( with content ) and others are a Reference to an existing module ( shared content ).  Now when I want to change the text (I can't remember when I selected Copy or Shared) I have not idea of the impact on the other pages.

Is there an easier way to manage/see an overview of the shared modules and where they are? By looking at the module I have no Idea of its inherited status. Next month I'll be creating a site with over 1500 pages and most of the elements on the right side of the page will be shared modules.

Is there a 3rd party module that you are aware of that can manage this??

Many thanks for any advise.

cheers,

simon

I use this:

Inventua Shadow Module for DotNetNuke
The Inventua Shadow Module for DotNetNuke presents a read-only copy of a module from another tab. This allows the user to share content and settings between tabs.

In my experience it only works for simple, non-interactive modules such as Text/HTML.

There is another module called Content Sharing that provide the functionalities you're looking for.   Note that it does not support all modules and only support a certain amount of modules provided.

With regards to the HML/Text module, in addition to the content sharing capabilities it also provide the ability to search and replace on the shared content.  I find this quite benificial especially when you only need to change a couple of words or replace content with dynamic data such user/portal profile information.
