In the HTML code I have this

<!--**********************************************************************************-->
<!-- DotNetNuke - http://www.dotnetnuke.com -->
<!-- Copyright (c) 2002-2007 -->
<!-- by DotNetNuke Corporation -->
<!--**********************************************************************************-->
is this required?
And if I find sites that don't have it, who do I rat to? hehe

It is not required in the HTML, if you turn off "show copyright" in the host settings that will go away. The license says you must keep the Copyright in the Source Code of the project, which mainly includes .VB files.
