What kind if functionality were you thinking of for Facebook? I was playing around with the API and was wondering if I should do some sort of integration with my UserProfile module - anything specific you were looking for?

Nothing specific as yet. I don't know the Facebook API in great detail, but I see some advantages to the current user having something in DNN like this:

  • Control their own Facebook account from DNN
  • Search Facebook and return data to DNN
  • Add Facebook contacts within DNN

It would be better if this was a separate module not tied to UserProfile, but some kind of networking module that could also use other networking APIs.

Hmm - I was considering building in a "Facebook Contact Picker" into the Smart-Thinker modules - eg. you want to create an Event/Group or Tell a Friend and you have a new option - "My Facebook Contacts" and you can bring them into DNN (it would create an account on their behalf - but I am not sure you can get the email from FB - only been playing with the basic webservice...
