I hear you. but hold your horses - it doens't validate in 4.5.5 either (not that you shoudn't update, though) Let me see if I can fix it...

Hi,

I'm getting this problem as well, ie email validation rejects hyphens, I've got version 4.5.1, is there solution??

Found the solution for this in my version 4.5.1. 

To fix:

1) Find all rows in the ModuleSettings table where SettingName = 'Security_EmailValidation'

2) Change validation string to:   \b[a-zA-Z0-9._%\-+']+@[a-zA-Z0-9.\-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,4}\b

3) Log in as Host and restart your application

Email validation with "-" should work.
