Hello,

I'm nowhere near as skilled in vb.net/asp.net as 99.9% of the people here and was wondering if there is a software out there that allows the creation of DNN modules (.net web apps) using a dummed up, point-click-drag method?

Thanks!

I think there is something called xmod.  That may not be it though.  I've seen just what you are talking about though.  Check in the 3rd parties modules section or at snowcovered and you should find it.

Cheers,

Tim^4,

shall we discuss now, why graphical developement languages are fairly available/used in general? If you ask for module developement, AFAIK there are no graphical developement environments. You can use any Web Design Tool for developing skins and a growing number of modules allow templating with html and/or XSL, but in any case you will need to have programming skills for fine tuning.

One of the most generic modules, where you don't need any programming knowledge is UserDefinedTable. You can use it for any simple structured data like contacts, CD library,  cooking receipts. There for you only have to place the module on a page and define the columns. Afterwards you can start easily with adding data. The newest version (3.2.0) is available from the project page at www.dotnetnuke.com and has many new features, and the version will have some nice other nice enhancements. And gamma concept is developing another module, that has much more optíons and a really nice user interface for defining views and formatting data.

That is a great idea, I will grab the sourcecode for UserDefinedTable (my favorite module!) and go from there.

Did you make that module?

Tim,

nice to hear, that you like UDT. To answer your question: no, I am not the author, UDT was already part of DotNetNuke 1.0, before I recognized this great solution. Here at gamma concept, my co-developers and I created an enhanced version "gammacon.UserDefinedTable", and when the DotNetNuke core modules where separated from the core into projects we decided to bring in our enhancements - the result is the current UDT 3.2.0. Meanwhile the project team has grown, Stefan Cullmann has implemented interesting features for UDT 3.3.0, we are currently finishing, and there are interesting ideas for future version.

So stay tuned...
