I've installed DNN in my godaddy hosted account in the default directory DotNetNuke.  I can log into myname.com/dotnetnuke and everything looks good. When I go to create a new portal (www.myname.com) using the only template available to me (dotnetnuke) I get an email saying the portal website has been setup but there is nothing there to login to.  I can't add a page or do anything since I can not log in as the Admin for myname.com.

What have I done wrong?  It did create a new directory with files under the dotnetnuke/portals directory.

Please help - godaddy knows nothing about DNN

I don't believe you can get your godaddy site setup in the manner you are trying. The files for DNN would need to exist in the root of the website instead of the DNN folder, and I don't think Godaddy let's you put them there.

Why would you host with someone who knows nothing about DNN in the first place?

Being that you said you where a new user... I'm thinking you need to ensure you have the portal alias added to the site that you said was created. Figure out the site that was created---- via that email that was sent to you---log to that site and add in the new alias your attempting to get to via the portal alias section under the Admin tab, Site Settings - Portal Aliases area. Are you creating child portals? Regardless look at the area before.

This is for Tom who posted smartie pants comments to you:

Tom... stop wasting people's time! Your comment makes me wonder how you just got that icon below your name. Regardless, I'll be in Lost Wages and you can make it up to me there!

GD is trying to learn but with experts like you and short "nothing helping answers" like you give here are some of the reason's I'm guessing they have not got it right yet! You experts need to cool your jets and help out instead of bash. I have used GD a few times on test portals and on the fly portals and I never had a problems with their Auto install via Metropolis, so they do have something right as well with DNN.

I always configure new portals as child portals.  That way, I can log into them, add content, etc., until I get a DNS record for an actual domain name.

I'd recommend you create the myname.com/dotnetnuke/childportal first.
