I really messed up and need some advice. I accidentally changed the site setting for the login direct. It now goes to a page on our site and not the login screen and I can't login to fix it. My backup is 3 weeks old and I'm trying to avoid a restore. Please help.

I am having a smiliar problem, somehow I have lost the login and register buttons from the our Default.aspx page.

I looked up this problem and tried the fix with logining in from an alternative login.aspx page but I could not get it to work as it appeared that the dnn skin could not be loaded.

Any help greatly appreciated and we will pay real money!!

We have developed our own site with customization of the DNN system. I am trying to look after it now after the guy who was doing it left, we have limited asp.net experience and very little DNN knowledge but we have a lot of experience with .net.

Regards,

             Alistair

Go into your database and find the "portals" table, and locate the row of the portal you messed up. Look for LoginTabID or something similar and press ctrl+0 to enter a null into that field. recycle the app or wait for your app to recycle and you're ready to go again!

Well, I have experienced with the same problem. I have tried many ways and finally get it fixed. As many of you have the same issue I have tried to replicate the problem and see how did I fix this (not because of your promise of paying ).

I think arigney's problem is you use skin that does not have any user and login control (the two tokens [USER] and [LOGIN] in the html file), so make sure that you do not miss them.

willbryer's problem is due to you do not have any login module on page selected as "Login Page" (thru site settings) you can do as the following to recover default portal settings

1. Connect to the database

2. Clear the value of LoginTabId of the portal you have problem with login, table Portals (settings are here)

3. Restart www services (or just kill the thread aspnet_wp) to clear the cache (I only know one way to clear cache )

4. Now, open the browser and see the result (you may need to click to login link several times to get the login displayed).

Hey thduc

You solution appears to be the one I need.  How do I go about doing this on a web hosted DNN 3.1.0 site?  I do not have it running locally, and am not 100% Server savy!

Thanks in advance.
