So we have a new release, with a bunch of misterious new features and no real information as to how they are to be used or installed, I noticed during the isntall something about an openid, but as I have said before which changelog - module should I be looking in to discover this golden nugget ?  I looked at one module and all it showed was "submitted bugs"  do I need to actually spend my week reading all of these change-logs to get a glimpse as to what a major release has in it?

I guess my biggest concern is this...  take code for example, when you read code its extremely detailed and you can loose the real meaning or intent behind the block of code.  When you write a Process-Flow oar swim-lane document yout purpose is to show the intent of the code or changes.  This is a crutial difference!

I hope the development teams read this and can understand what I am trying to explain. Or perhaps I should be wondering how all the other upteen thousands of DNN users have the time to dig through the change logs to see what has changed. Think off all that time that is spent digging.  Especially if you are upgrading from 2 or 3 versions ago...  thats just a plain nightmare.

Frustrated in lack of support.

I think you have a valid point as I have had many clients ask the same thing.  The problem is that if you keep up regularly with each version the change form one to another is sometimes very minimal, and some of time it is long awaited.  Shaun usually outlines what is new in the DNN newsletter.  But to make a 2-3 version jump is quite daunting at this point.  I think they are at something like 56 versions or so of DNN since conception so there is a lot there.  I don't know if the resources are there to have complete documentation from version to version going back more than a version or so.

Agreed.  It is difficult to determine the difference from one release to another, even for just features / function.  I end up having to setup a trial version in an attempt to  find the differences, which is very time consuming, and I usually miss several improvements.  Just a summary on the website downloads page, with the latest version, would be very helpful.   So, what is different from 4.6 to 4.7?

I've asked this same question so many times in the past.  Eventually some nice core-team member will always say - "just look in Gemini and you'll see what's changed!" - but that's so bogus.  There's so much detail in Gemini that it's almost impossible for an outsider to understand what the developers have changed.  I know that there must be some internal document that states what the contents and goals of the release are. Just post that with the release files - it's just that easy.

I really appreciate what these folks are doing for us, but, it's very hard to make the business case for upgrading a functioning website based on unknown changes in functionality.  Even the lowliest freeware out there on the net has a readme.txt that has the version changes listed in it.

Wow, I couldn't agree more.  In Gemini, you're forced to decipher cryptic submission titles or repeatedly click for more details.  I'd love to see a lists of both features and bug fixes in descending order of importance.
