Main question:

I deleted some 3rd Party Module Definitions in the Host Settings. As expected, the modules no longer show on the pages they were used on. If I restore the db to before the deletion, should I expect the modules to reappear?

Background:
My web host is trying to upgrade my DNN from v.4.0.2 to 4.7 but is getting errors that suggest some 3rd party modules are causing install to fail. I tried to delete the module defs even though I did not delete instances of the module on individual pages. Now I just need to get back to where I was but after restore, the modules are not showing up.

Any insight into this?

The short answer is yes.  However, any content or DNN modifications that write or remove records to the DB since the previous back-up would be lost.  The long answer is to have an offline version of the DNN site and try it there first to see what happens.
