Hello, Not sure this should be posted, but in working another problem I ran across my SMTP passwword as clear text in the host table in the DB. This was at DNN 4.06.02. It may be wise to include some sort of encryption on both the smtp user name and password in the DB for a future release. Thanks, Peter

Your SMTP password is sent in clear text, there's no encryption inherent in SMTP.  That combined with the fact that a DNN database should be secure from prying eyes makes this a rather low risk.  Of course, incorrectly configured security could allow access to the database, but that's not a good reason to encrypt data in a database.

Jeff, I agree, all good points you bring out. The password is hidden from those that have access to HOST adminstration however, so someone was thinking security when it was written. A registered users password is much better protected because I understand that function is passed on to .net   I only brought it up because it seemed like a minor code change that is appealing in an enterprise level implementation.
