did you test, what happens, if you de-install the upload component?

Well, stone the crows. It commented out references to Element-IT.PowUpload in the web.config, and file uploads now work.

This is very peculiar as this component is not installed on the other DNN installation where file uploads don't work either. Anyway the main one works now, so thank you for bearing with me, and helping me out Sebastian.

I use this component so that clients can upload multiple image files in one go. Is there any way to do this using DNN's file upload functionality?

DNN's webupload control supports upload of a zip file with automated unzipping. If you need to find an alternative for images, I suggest to have a look at SimpleGallery Module from Scott McCulloch www.ventrian.com
