I seem to have a serious problem with this. I'm now on 4.8.
I have not done anything particulary complex with DNN, so it is basically a stock install.

It is at the point where editing the website is impossible.

Are there any hints out there?

Ok, I have an idea. Not a particularly good idea, but one worth exploring.

I have "Page State Persistence" set to "memory". I did this because my server only has an old Celeron processor, but heaps of memory and my bandwidth is low. So anyway, i suspect that this was the begining of my problems.


The problem is though, my setting persistance is so bad that i can get it back to paged page persistance. I went into the SQL database and changed the value of Page StatePersister from M to P. I needed to restart the entire server to get this change to filter through.

The problem now seems to be solved. For me anyway.

Change it to page and try again.

I never used the memory option because it always caused problems to me.

I have the same problem with the latest 4.8.0 DNN installation.  I cannot make DNN to "remember" any of the settings I make in Admin/UserSettings module - they all seem to work at first, but they get reset back to the default values after awhile.  This is VERY BAD.  My Page State Persistence is set to "Page", and Module Caching Method is set to "Disk" in the Host Settings section.
