Hi - I am new to DNN, but have got it up and running on my PC. I can create pages, add modules to those pages, and even create my own "Hello World" type modules.

But, I want to create a commercial web-based application. This will be highly data driven, with lots of gridviews, detailviews, tabbed web pages, LINQDataSources, etc. Users will input data, modify it, etc over many differen screens. So while I like DNN's inbuilt abilities like billing, security, etc, I am not sure it is the right platform to host this application.

Think of a store's inventory system. To be able to register new products, record sales of them, integrate with off-the-shelf accounting packages like Sage. Is DNN the right framework to create this type of application? I.e. I want to be able to use ANY of VS2008's controls. I want to structure my pages and site hierarchy with freedom, to improve the user experience.

Are there perhaps any sample sites I could look at? What's YOUR experience?

Thanks :-)

As Chris mentioned there are many links you could follow.

As to your question of can DNN support what you want to do?  Yes, I believe it could.

I would have a look at Michael Washington's articles at http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com as he has good examples of using LINQ and others in DNN modules.

That may mean DNN is not for you.  While this is possible with DNN, the framework adds another layer you need to work within, or around.
