I've just installed DNN 4.8 recently.  I've added a Search results page and put a Search results module on it.  I have keywords on all my pages.  Yet when I try to use the Search feature, it directs me back to my Search Results page, but does not display any results, or any error messages.  I previously had 4.5 installed and search worked fine.  Has anyone installed 4.8 and can use the search feature?

I can search and get results without any problem on 4.8.0, however, I don't know that I've ever had search results appear for a page's keywords.

Sorry I can't be more help,

Can you tell me exactly what you are searching on then?  Actually, I have been able to get a few searches to work by looking in the SearchWord table and finding some words from a Text/HTML module on my home page.  But I have no idea how those words got inserted into the table, and they are not in the SearchSummary box of the module.  I've tried adding a new text/html module to another page and put some text on it, yet those words do not show up in the SearchWord table, so i have no clue how that table gets updated.   And I could have sworn that in my old 4.5 installation that I was able to search by KeyWords.  Isn't that the point of having Key Words?  I'm so confused now.  I think I'll blow away my local 4.8 installation and reinstall 4.5 and see how the old search functionality works.  Thanks.

Modules that are searchable submit their content to the DotNetNuke Search Indexer on a regular basis (I think it's every 30 minutes by default).  That's how the SearchWord table gets filled.  Usually it is just the content of the module that gets indexed.

I think the Keywords property of page is just used for indexing by external search engines (Google, Yahoo!, etc.) by being placed in meta tags at the head of the page.

Definitely let me know if it does something different in 4.5.  I suppose either way we should see if we can get that put into future versions.

The keywords are for search engines. Your content (if it'sa searchable module) gets indexed based on the search indexer's schedule for your site. It's a job that runs in the DNN scheduler. It parses your content and adds content to the Search tables. Although the results returned are seldom revenant, particularly if you search for a phrase (more than one word). We've started using Venexus search on sites where searching is important.
