I am with ROBAX & Sebastian on this. 1) Start hanging around with adults, & 2)this portal solution is VERY viable in business solutions regardless of whether it is a storefront for a large retailer or backoffice functions at a mom & pop shop. People used to snicker (at least I think they did) when I was so gung-ho on Microsoft. I ended up taking a job and working at Microsoft back in 1993. That was before Windows NT 3.1. LanManager 2.x was the network operating system dejour. Internally, we all used Windows For Workgroups or Windows 3.1 with Xenix email. There was no such thing as a "Domain" to log into. Now look at them. A very long way in just 15 years.
I have spent the past few months reviewing the portal, it capabilities, etc. So far, I am planning (not committed yet) to use it as a total business solution portal for a services company that my brother & I started last year...pretty much banking business expansion plans on it working and continuing to work. If I didn't feel that it would do what I needed it to do AND that there was decent support channel for it, then I wouldn't be doing it. Their separation of business process is stellar and the licensing fees are unbeatable! <g> About 2 months of development and we're going to be ready for launch. So, as long as Shaun & his buddies can keep doing what they're doing under their business model, then this should mature into something really wonderful. I know that if I am successful as I am setting out to be, I will have no problem giving money to help fund open source organizations such as this.
So, my test on how supportable is DNN has begun. I am going to make my first posts for support and see how things go. They are real world issues that have just happened and we'll see what path we take getting them resolved. So, unless I post otherwise, I would say keep moving down the path of developing DNN solutions.
