I received blank result while pressing the search button on my site.

When I use host->search admin and click on the Re-Index Content link button I get the following error:

Error: Search Admin is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format at System.String.Format(IFormatProvider provider, String format, Object[] args) at System.String.Format(String format, Object[] args) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Reports.Exceptions.ReportsModuleException.get_Message() at System.Exception.ToString() at DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.ExceptionLogController.AddLog(Exception objException, ExceptionLogType LogType) at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.LogException(Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.ModuleIndexer.GetSearchIndexItems(Int32 PortalID) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngine.GetContent(IndexingProvider Indexer) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngine.IndexContent() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Search.SearchAdmin.cmdReIndex_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Checking into event viewer, I noticed the following error, please help.

I suggest to clear the search tables (see http://www.deutschnetnuke.de/tabid/134/Default.aspx) and re-index the content.

Thanks. It was due to one faulty module causing the search module to crash. I deleted the module and all are ok now. Thanks for the advise.

Further investigation points the problem to report module (ver 5). I change the report module to not searchable and I am able to display the "faulty module" again.

I can also reproduce this problem with DNN 4.8.2 and Reports 5.0.0. I get the following exception every time I click Host > Search Admin > Re-Index Content:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.Localization.Localization.GetString(String name, String ResourceFileRoot) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Reports.Exceptions.ReportsModuleException.get_Message() at System.Exception.ToString() at DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.ExceptionLogController.AddLog(Exception objException, ExceptionLogType LogType) at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.LogException(Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.ModuleIndexer.GetSearchIndexItems(Int32 PortalID) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngine.GetContent(IndexingProvider Indexer) at DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler.DoWork()

I can also verify that the solution turning off the "ISearchable" bit in the SupportedFeatures column of the Reports row in the DesktopModules table solves this problem. The bits in this field appear to be:

1 = Portable
2 = Searchable
4 = Upgradeable

The Reports module has a value of 3 (Portable + Seachable). Setting this value to "1" (Portable) solves the problem.
