Hi

Hopefully some one on here can help me. The situation that I am in is this, my host has just upgraded my databases to SQL Express from 2000, previously the databases where houses on a separate SQL Server and I could access them via the Management Studio (that ships with SQL Express). However after the upgrade the database files have been moved into a folder on the site. I can see the database files via the ftp logon but I can't connect to them via the Management Studio any more, which is a pain. My host has told me that I will be unable to connect to the files using the Management Studio.

It seems to me that the only option left to me is to create an 'admin' page on the site that has a module on it that will allow me to conect to the database via the web site.

Firstly if anyone can point me in the right direction if there is away that I can manage my databases via the Management Studio.

Secondly if anyone can point me to a module that will allow me to view/modify tables, run sql queries, do backup and restores etc against my databases.

Many thanks in advance.

DNN includes this functionality already.

Have a look at the SQL page under the host menu.

Usually you can use the attach db file option to access your db thru Management studio .. but I dont think you can attach a file if it is on a different box (ie the web server instead of the db server).. so thats probably why they are saying you cant use mgmt studio anymore.

You can use the host sql page, but it is nowhere near as easy as management studio... I would agree with any suggestion to move to a different host, it seems like a pretty unfriendly action by your hosting company, to take away the ability to easily manage your db.
