I'm wondering because I just made a post to the skinning forum and was able to edit it immediately even though I'd received a notification in my browser that a moderator has to approve my post.
Or is that a 'feature' of the next forum module release?

Its a "feature" thats been around for a little while now .. everyone gets that message, even if they have been given the  no_moderate flag.  Its just one of the quirks that we have to put up with ;) It will probably be fixed at some point.  Btw, it looks like you have the no_moderate flag after just 25 posts, congrats :)

It's been that way since the migration to the new forums, Sept/Oct of last year. (counts on fingers..Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March..more than half a year ago).

all new users start moderated and get unmoderated after a significant number of posts (usually ~ 20-50)
