Hi All,

I am looking into DNN hosts. I suspect most of my site visitors will be UK based. So should I go for a UK based DNN host? If so what can be recommended?

Thanks,

Sam

HI Sam

I am based in the Uk and two years ago when I started using dnn I had the same problem.

I can totally recommend Red Fox Hosting https://www.redfoxhosting.com/

They are an excellent asp .net host.   I have never been anywhere better.

I now have 3 accounts with them:

A reseller package (50 domains, 25 SQL connections, 75GB pcm 8GB storage) £22.0 pcm !
I use this account for low budget sites and for testing and parking domains etc

Semi dedicated
Not mentioned on their home page yet is a new semi-dedicated option that Warren (MD) came up with for a few of us who needed control of ISS but could not afford a ful dedicated.  These accounts are around 140 pa but you get a great deal for this. These semi-dedicated srevers have a maximum of 30 sites only per server and all accounts run in their own app pools.  For DNN its perfect and I do not know of anything close in the UK.

All accounts have a management system (Helm) plus numerous useful tools like site and DB backups saved as encrypted zips to the root of the domain.

We also have a dedicated server with them for media streaming and thats only 120 pcm.

Happy to help any dnn'er on RFH (if ican).

Ian

Ian,   you may also want to look into DotNetPark (www.dotnetpark.com) ... while the servers are located in the US, they are based out of the UK I believe.   Also, they are quite well versed in DNN as they use it for their Control Panel application.    Good service and support for the price.

/Paul

Once again I will second Paul's recommendation. DotNetPark has been good to me for a number of years.

I third DotNetPark, again ;) Hi Paul, Hi Michael.

I have several .co.nz sites on DotNetPark, and there is no noticeable lag.  However it is theorized by some SEOs that if you want to rank highly on a country specfic Google (google.com.uk) you need to have your web server actually in that country... however I rank #2 for DotNetNuke in google.co.nz, so you should take that theory with a grain of salt so to speak...

See my DotNetPark hosting offer page ... with free double disk space offer

JK.
