I am new user of dotnetnuke and new to website building.

Two questions: dumb question number 1--I don't want anyone ever to register to manipulate/edit my site.  How do I ensure that I set the settings such that that is the case.

Dumb question number 2:  I can't log in at all anymore. Why?  Things were going great, but when updating a module after editing content (text and links to document files and sound file), I received an error: and I now receive that error each time I try to log in (and I can't).  The error reads as follows:

Unhandled Error

Error Details

File
Error   The transaction log for database '3_02a8390_1' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases

Okay

1. in the site settings There is an option for private registration which means the link for register will not be displayed.

2. Where are you hosting your site? is it on a shared host? how many pages/ tabs hae you added to the site?
If you are hosting on your local machine you will want to check that your sql express database is set to auto grow and that the harddrive yuo have the database on has enough space available.
If you are on a shared hosting platform I sgggest you contact your provider and ask what the limited of the database are.

John,

1.  Thank you.  If and when I am able to log in to continue work on my site, I will try this option.

2.  Thank you.  I am hosting the site on networksolutions.com, which is a shared host.  There are 7 pages thus far with links to uploaded files (.pdf, .wma, .gifs).  Dotnetnuke was provided by it as a web-based site building tool.  Dotnetnuke is not installed locally; it is installed such that its functions are a web-based web site building tool.  Thus, I do not have control over the sql database.  I have contacted my provider and they have "escalated" my inquiry to their "engineering" department.  Thus far, network solution's response is that the "transaction log" on the sql database on their server is full.  It has attempted to run script to clean it, but thus far, to no avail.  There is no option from my end of file managing in my account with netsolutions to perform that action.

So, now I have two more dumb questions:

1.  I remain stuck  and need to get this site built.  Should  I  install dotnetnuke locally and work on my site solely from my hard drive and when complete, then upload to my shared host via http?.

2.  Is there anyway to modify the dotnetnuke skin that contains the radio buttons for web and site search so that it appears at a different location and so that I can eliminate the web search option?

KSB

Firstly No problem.

1. I think you should install locally and build you site there test it out etc...
If your provider allows you to retire a database from a backup you can backup your local dnn db and retore it to your live site.

2. The search item is a usercontrol contained within the Admin folder. Yes you can adjust it no problem. it is an ascx file (basically a html file with extra markup)
If your adjusting a skin I'd suggest you look at a couple of the skins that are out there and try building up from one of them rather than the default dnn skin.
Dnn creative offer a free skin for download that you could start work from.

Do you understand CSS and HTML? As this would really be required to do any significant adjustments to the skin.
