Hi,

I am a complete newby and just installed my first DNN site. I'd like to host mulptiple websites in this installation. What I can't seem to get my head around is - when you add a new parent portal and point it ti it's http alias, where are the files for it?? the DNS entries will point to a folder on the local system on my web server, but where do i get the portal files from? Please help....

Thanks :)

The portals share the same DNN Files. When you create a new portals specific "files" such as logos and uploaded skins are stored in the portals/#/ folder, where # is the portal id of the newly created portal.

Thanks for your reply Chris! Does that mean that I need to somehow point the virtual directory for that website to the portals/#/ folder? Thanks again

Accepted Answer

Point all of your domains to the root of your DNN portal's file system. Then simply ensure that each portal you create has an alias that matches one of the domains, or is a subdomain thereof..

Each portal has it's own folder for storing files such as images and documents.

The rest is all handled by DNN itself so long as you carry out all operations through the DNN interface.
