Hi Guys,

Thanks for your help on my previous topic.

NOW: I need to know ( as I can't find any info ) if DNN supports MySQL databases on a windows server or does DNN only use MS SQL exclusively?
I ask this as to choose the right website hosts with the correct resources.

Kind regards and many thanks,

Devan

MS SQL Server or Express only.

To add a bit ...

Most folks recommend using SQL Server and avoiding the Express version.  Yes, it cost money, but it's worth it if you are serious.  The Express version might be adequate for hobbyist type sites.

There are also third party data providers available.  I believe that there are still Oracle and mySQL versions available.  I have no experience.

Clearly the best solution is SQL Server.

As the above people have mentioned SQL Server is the ONLY supported version out of the box, third-party providers do exist, but I am NOT familiar with ANY of them.

DNN uses data provider model to isolate application from fundamental data source. However, by default DNN comes only with MSSQL providers. We have seen DNN installations that were using custom providers for Oracle DB in the past, so it is likely possible to create custom provider for MySQL.
