Hi all,

Very frustrating problem here! I have recently discoverd that I cannot update a particular module's settings after I have made a settings change that involves selecting from a dropdown which causes an ajax postback.

If I disable ajax for the portal, I can update the settings fine. But if I attempt to update the module settings after triggering an initial ajax postback by choosing something off a particular dropdown, then the update link just generates a script error.

According to the Firebug error console, the error upon clicking Update, is:

The module is Ventrian Simple Gallery and I've got a long thread at Ventrian.com about it already without any solution other than that it isn't the fault of the module - which leads me here for help.

The same module works fine on a fresh test portal on the same server so I tend to agree that it isnt strictly the modeul.. but it is definitely one particular dropdown settigns that serves as the catalyst for causing the error. The portal it doesn't work properly on is DNN4.8.3 which has been upgraded since about 4.03. Everythign else seemt to work fine.. no other modules have this issue as far as I'm aware.

It has been suggested I update ajax.. I'm not sure how to go about that - I assumed it was part of DNN as I never did anything to enable it other than tick the box in host settings way back.... there seems to be half a dozen different ajaxes installed from various modules anyway. I do have a VPS account and can carry out tasks on the server if I needed to.

I really don't know how to  troubleshoot this further. I'm hoping someone might recognise the situation and give me some advice.

Rob

For anyone in future: Updating the server to .Net 2.0 SP1 fixed the issue.
