Thank you for all of your replies. You confirmed what I suspected, but it's interesting to hear also who has reviewed it without issue. I too, haven't had any companies that had many issues with it.

I needed a more definitive answer for my clients who are asking where it came from, etc, and I now have it.

I will certainly post if their legal department finds anything that may be an issue for others.

Thanks,

They came from the original IBuySpy portal from Microsoft, which may explain why they look a lot like these:

http://www.microsoft.com/info/cpyright.mspx

I have a feeling that there was a lawyer or two involved.

Our leagal didn't find any issue with the default text other than jurisdictional stuff (Washington, etc.) that needed to be simply removed.  The language is common for our area.  But we replaced it entirely with our own, much simpler text. The State of Florida has some specific statutes about public entity privacy information, we referenced them as well.  Of course, we're a municipal government so it basically reads "You have no privacy on this site."  :)

I have had two clients change the Terms simply because they had specific terms that applied to their sites.  I've never had a client need to change the default privacy text after review, except for the mentioned localization.

For my clients, both texts need to be adopted - European law and regulations seem to differ significantly from U.S. ones.
