I'm trying to understand what I am seeing in my site log.  All of a sudden I am getting 23,000 views and only 30 visitors.  Even if I discount my visits to the site for making changes and update it still seems to be a huge number of views per visitor.  Could a keep alive utility account for this?

Views or hits usually implies how many times page or other media content has been requested by the client, whereas visitor is typically a unique ip address or user session. If your site has many pages, it is uncommon for search engine indexing robots to traverse and download everything on your site thus inflating the “view” count.
