Hi all,

I was pleasantly surprised to come across http://dev.mainsoft.com/ which is a DNN portal running on Linux, ported via Grasshopper.

I heard that DNN inc were working with Mainsoft, but did not realise that we had end results. So a great surprise.

Does anyone have views or experience on this brave new world?

I would also love to know the stack details for this site. I assume Apache, Tomcat, J2EE/DNN, MySql ??

Thanks,

Sam

AFAIK we never worked with mainsoft, they selected dotnetnuke as a reference example as dotnetnuke is the largest Microsoft asp.net opensource project and would be a good demonstration of their tool. I'm not sure they ever released a version publically, you can find various references about it @ http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=mainsoft+dotnetnuke&meta=

Cathal,

Thanks for the quick reply.

What is the current thinking on making DNN available on Linux?

Perhaps things have moved on... I know some other .NET CMSs run over Mono, and it would be good to have the option.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam

Theres no plans as far as I know, theres not been much demand for it. It's something a few of us took a look at a while back but at the time mono's vb.net compiler wasn't 100% working. In addition there is code that would have to be changed to make it work i.e. filesystem code. I expect it's something that will be looked at at some point, but we're working towards a dnn 5.0 release at the minute so it's not a priority.

Cathal
