Shopping for a dnn host, I came upon the Host Index page titled "DotNetNuke Hosting." I picked one of the several hosts on the page — one that  says they have "the best DotNetNuke hosting plan on the market, you will also get the best technical support." I went to that host's web site and found no mention of DotNetNuke. So I got on their online chat. Here is how it went:

Me: Your information at http://www.hostindex.com/showcases/dotnetnukehosting/showcase.asp says you have "the best DotNetNuke hosting plan on the market, you will also get the best technical support." This is good, because I am shopping for a dnn host. But I find no mention on your site anywhere about DotNetNuke. Are you a DotNetNuke host, or not?

Web Host: Just a minute
<long wait>
Web Host: Yes you can use DotNetNuke

Me: Can you point me to anywhere on your site that explains this?
<long wait>
Web Host: No there's no such kind of info on our site

So I picked a second host off the Host Index page. This one says, "Skip your DotNetNuke hosting review elsewhere and go straight to <hostname>. We have the top DotNetNuke hosting plan..." I went to this web host site and did a Google site search for the terms "dotnetnuke" and "dnn." No mentions found anywhere on the site.

So I clicked the feedback link on the Host Index site to say, "What's up with that?" The email immediately bounced. I used their Chat facility, which of course was not live. But I used the form to send a message. That bounced back, also.

I am inclined to say that Host Index is not a reliable source for searching DotNetNuke hosts. But I wouldn't want to be libelous. I'll just ask if anyone uses Host Index and does anyone know if they are even still in business...did someone just forget to pull the plug on the web site?
