I noticed on HouseofNuke they have a HouseMenu2 released and it says:

....which is built on DNN's navigation provider model. There is no module or skinobject version at this time."

What does this mean exactly?

I thought all stuff went through skinobjects etc...... (mind you I have been gone for about 6 months)

Thanks.

Hi JReivers,

A DNN navigation provider is a class that implements the abstract methods of DotNetNuke.Modules.NavigationProvider.  By choosing this route, HouseMenu (or anyone who wishes to create a navigation provider) may be specified as a concrete navigation provider (default or otherwise) at the web.config level (look under dotnetnuke/navigationControl/providers).  Concrete navigation providers may be instantiated in a skin through use of the DNN-supplied <dnn:NAV ... /> skinobject.

The end result of all this is that HouseMenu will work in all skins without having to modify the skin itself.  That's the goal.

You can read more about the provider pattern here (okay) or here (better).

Hope this helps!

Brandon
