Hi Rodney,
Do you mind if I direct some of my original questions to you about your Smart-Thinker product(s)?
In my original post, I mentioned that what I'm aiming at is...
"...for participants to be able to configure their own 'front door' using widgets (i.e. their choice of both content and presentation). Although most will likely prefer to 'drag and drop' from a kind of catalogue, some in my community are blind and cannot use a mouse (and therefore would need to have this functionality using the keyboard, guided by their screenreader). I would like members to be able to upload URLs referring to sites / resources of interest that they can describe and others can comment on in a blog-like way as well as adding - from their own perspective - tags, ratings, etc."
I realize now that I can use Xmod (which, thanks to Leazon's helpful post, I've just purchased) to provide the ratings, comments, etc. My questions concerning your product - as recently updated - are:
1. can I provide my users with their own personalized home page (not necessarily as a 'here's who I am and the music that I like' self-expression, but as a personal tool - a module-based launch point that they can configure themselves)?
2. If so, is the solution accessible in a way that although some users may drag and drop modules to their page, users who are unable to use or see a mouse can use the keyboard to place them? (Any site that was compliant to the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) or the American government's Section 508 provision would meet this requirement),
3. I don't know enough yet about Xmod, so I don't know how easy it would be to build tagging / bookmarking features in a way that, while providing the means for individuals to find their own stuff through their tags, would also contribute through aggregation to a sort of community 'folksonomy' (e.g. enabling the highlighting of site content based on most popular tags). Any thoughts on this capability re: your product(s)?
Thanks a lot
Bill
