Thanks. I am realizing how much more investment I am going to have to make in server security.  I thought I had the basics covered but now I've got other decisions to make.  Managed server or do it myself (learning fast), software protection or hardware protection (most likely both) etc. I find myself wishing I was still doing shared hosting (so much easier to just call someone), unfortunately that isn't possible.

Have you tried setting up a honeypot?  This article:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc160810.aspx here has some good information on how to set one up....this kind of setup has dramatically reduced the trouble I see on my servers...and it's fairly straightforward instructions too.
