Hi

Can anyone tell if there is a reliable method by which I can extract a website from my portal.  I have 6 parent portals running from one installation and need to know if I can move one to a new Dnn instalation on a new host

Cheers

Hi Albert,

Unfortunately with the way that DotNetNuke is implemented, there's not really a _good_ way to extract portals from a website, however, it is possible.  Here's the process you'll want to use:

1)  Backup the entire website (name it Files0.zip)

2)  Backup the entire SQL database (name it DB0.BAK)

3)  For Each Portal you want to extract...

3.a)  Restore Files0 as wwwRoot\Files1

3.b)  Restore DB0.BAK as DB1

3.c)  Update the connection strings accordingly

3.d)  Delete all other portals out of the "cloned" website.
