Hi eveyrone. I'm planning to make a church website using DNN with 3 other developers. I'm a junior developer who has about 1-2 years of web development experience.

My question is, is it safe and easy to develop a website using DNN framework and Visual Studio 2008 express IDE? The reason why i'm asking if DNN is safe to use VS2008 express is because i know the IDE does not have a feature to publish projects. Also does VS2008 Express have the features needed to easily create and modify pages and funcationaly at a high level webpges in DNN?

My general concern is, what road blocks will i and my team encounter when using DNN and VS2008 express to develop a website?

Thanks for reading. I appreciate the help :).

we encourage users to not update dotnetnuke core code itself, it means that you can't deploy updated versions unless you add your changes back in after each update. instead what everyone does is user the various extensibility points such as skins & modules, which allow you to work within dotnetnuke but not update core code. it's safe and easy to develop dotnetnuke modules in vs express 2008 -theres lots of books and tutorials on this, i recommend taking a look at http://adefwebserver.com/ , in particular http://adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_Module4/ will show you how to start from scratch.

Use the Install version and "develop" using modules, CSS and creating skins and containers.  If you need something that doesn't exist, write a module.
