When using the Core Newsletter module to send out a message to let's say 20 users I receive a report saying :

Operation started at: 11/15/2008 6:09:31 AM
EmailRecipients: 20
EmailMessages: 20
Operation completed: 11/15/2008 6:09:36 AM
including a list of users that received the Email.

If on the other hand there's an error with one user the above report would state EmailMessages 19 which is normal but there's no list of the 19 users that supposedly received the Email and on a shared hosting environment I can't check the Email server whether the operation succeded.

Does anyone know why there's no list of the 19 (hopefully) successful emails ?

the error has been logged in Gemini and I will try to fix it for DNN 5.1

I myself tried inserting in the Additional Emails field just over a hundred addresses, and the whole site got corrupted! I had an ugly server error showing for a while and then when the site came back up, no trace of the error was found in the events viewer except for a database connection error.

For the next-half hour, if I went to that tab, the page would show a blank tab i.e. nothing in the content pane.

Dren,

for hundreds of addresses, use of a 3rd party module is suggested.

Which DNN version and which send options (TO/BCC and sync/async) did you use?

Async and To

Apart from this problem (which is more of a minor irritation really) I have no problems with the bulk email facility at all - I've used it a lot and found it to be very effective.

However, it would be really good if there was a small log somewhere in the DNN database of the number of emails sent through this facility, who sent them, what date and time, etc.  This would be really useful I think for hosts to track which of the portal admins are using this module and would be particularly useful when portal admins ask for support from hosts (such as claiming messages haven't gone out).

I know there are 3rd party apps available but this is a good module because it is easy to use.
