We are developing our new intranet using DotNetNuke and are looking to provide search results using our Google Search Appliance (GSA).

We have been able to get the GSA to crawl and index around 2500 pages of the intranet site; however when we perform a search the GSA is unable to find any results.

Does the GSA work with DotNetNuke? Are there any known issues?

We are using the CISS.SideMenu for our navigation and the Content manager module from http://www.invenmanager.com/contentmanager/.

Thanks in advance.

it should work, if you created your own search store and indexing providers.

We have experience doing this. What we did was create a custom skin object. Similar to the core search, when clicked it navigates the user to a page within DNN. This page in DNN contains an IFrame type module (we call it google search results) that loads the google appliance's results page within the DNN portal. This allowed us to do it without spending lots of time writing providers and also allowed us to avoid any core changes.

Thanks for your feedback.

Crispy: Sounds similar to what we are planning to do so it’s good to know it should work.

So the Google Search Appliance should be able to crawl and serve results from a DotNetNuke site – hopefully updating the Google Search Appliance will fix the issue.

Hey Crispy,

I am trying to setup a Google Search Appliance to crawl a DNN site.  Getting the GSA to crawl the public pages is obviously no problem.  However, we need to setup the GSA to crawl the DNN content that requires authentication.  We have tried modifying the AD provider to auto-login the GSA by IP, but haven't had success.  Have you setup the GSA to crawl non-public pages on a DNN site and if so, can you shed some light on how to do it?

Thanks,

Derrick
