I installed Dot Net Nuke on my dev web server. I have set the permissions as I believe they need to be.

I can navigate to the following from the dev web server:

http://localhost/DNNDemo/Default.aspx

I then attempt to navigate to the dev web server from my dev desktop:

http://cewebdevapp02/DNNDemo/Default.aspx

I get the following error from IE:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

  • You are not connected to the Internet.
  • The website is encountering problems.
  • There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

The perplexing aspect is if I put a simple web form including a button I can navigate to the following:

http://cewebdevapp02/dnndemo/Test.aspx

It works!

It is like IIS does not know about the DNN pages. Does anyone have any ideas?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Rich

did you install DotNetNuke using address http://cewebdevapp02/DNNDemo/Default.aspx or did you use localhost when calling the site for the first time. In this case, you need to use the same domain address again to login as host user, enter site settings, scroll down, down, down and add cewebdevapp02/DNNDemo as additional portal alias.
