Hi folks

I am puzzled by the fact that with DNN standard users aswell as Administators / Content editors all Login in the same way  through the same screen - Doesnt this mean there is a security risk as anyone who was able to guess your ADMIN Login details would be able to destroy your site - ??

I've never known of a website that had a hidden administrator login, do you have any real world examples where this is the case?

All this means is that you must make sure that you are using a strong password for your administrator logins.  If having a hidden login encourages people to have easily guessable passwords, then I think that's probably the wrong way to go altogether.

Hope that helps,

right - but since every system is easy to identify from the source code of issued pages, it is easy to find the admin login for any system, i.e. you do not really improve security by separate login. using secure login names and passwords should provide best security for your site.

Also please be aware that you can also use different usernames for Admin and Host users, which would make it a double guess (hard to guess username and hard to guess password)

Maybe he is saying that the administrator should not have a public internet facing entry point.  That would make it more secure, but probably wouldn't be worth the extra hassle to most people.

A cool enhancement would be for the ability to assign IP Addresses to Security Roles to add an additional level of security.
