Does any one know how to enable or disable AJAX in DNN 5?  This function was used to be available in DNN 4.x.

DNN5 always requires AJAX to be available.

Hi Sebastian,

Why was it decided to make AJAX .Net a requirement of DNN5?

I agree that it makes sense to include a library to handle a lot of the client side code, thereby making module development easier. And hopefully having a library will ensure that some of the DNN js files can be refactored. But wouldn't it have made more sense to solely rely on jquery, since jquery already provides most of the functionality AJAX .Net provides + extra goodies and you have access to a bunch of plugins from the community and its smaller.

I'm not entirely crazy of having the scriptmanager loading on every page, even when I dont need it. Same for the dnn .js files. I like having control over what gets loaded when.

agree with Attie, too many js files, for some static content  i need none of them. It would be nice to have option to turn of them in page setting.

Scriptmanager is loaded only if needed on a page.

Besides, a lot of admin modules require AJAX.Net
