PowerDNN is the best, hands down!  That's why I work for them!  :)

All joking asside, when comparing PowerDNN to the companies you mentioned, there's really a huge difference between us.  Let me explain some of the main points:

Speed
At PowerDNN, because DotNetNuke is our focus, all of our servers are heavily optimized to run DotNetNuke.  We know exactly how resource intensive DotNetNuke is, how much RAM is needs, and we optimize our servers completely around DotNetNuke.  Plus, we run KeepAlive on every one of our sites which helps ensure that your DotNetNuke website is ALWAYS loading as fast as it possibly can.

Support
At PowerDNN, we are completely staffed 24/7/365 Even-On-Christmas with a support team that is based in Omaha, Nebraska, speaks english and understands DotNetNuke.  You can call us _ANY_ time.  Also, to many companies, including the one you just mentioned, DotNetNuke is really just another product that they offer - they don't really know anything about it - that's up to you to find out.  With us, if you have questions, we know the answers, and if we don't, then we'll always go the extra mile to find out and help you out with your DotNetNuke needs.

Expertise
Because DotNetNuke is what we specialize in, when you need advice or suggestions, we are here to help.  We know DotNetNuke inside and out so if you have problems or accidently mess up your website, we have the people, the processes, the tools, and the expertise to always help you out.

When comparing PowerDNN to other hosting companies, yes, we are a little more expensive, but that's because we're not just selling you some disk space and an FTP connection - you have a full team of experts who are available 24/7/365 to always help you out.

Obviously any answer you receive here will be a biased answer.  The real question is what are your capabilities and how much involvement do you want to have in maintaining your site?  Are you concerned about cost savings and lots of resources?  Would you rather pay more to not have to worry about your site (other than content management which would obviously fall on your shoulders)?

My take on it is that if you want a completely disconnected experience (that is to say, you only want to manage your content and leave installation, maintenance, etc. in the hands of another individual) then PowerDNN probably is a better choice.  The tradeoff is that you get less resources and a higher price but the premise there is that you are also getting more "support".

Personally I like to have my hands very deep in the cookie jar and don't really want anybody messing with my portal installing "performance enhancements" or "fixes" on my behalf. (just search the DNN forums and you'll find plenty of threads mentioning PowerDNN doing just that.)

Since I like having full control over my installation and all aspects of it I use 3Essentials.  I have found their price, support, and overall value to be quite good.  I personally host my own business site on there and have several clients hosted there as well.  The very few times I have had an issue they have been quick to respond and resolve.  Their support is not only knowledgable and on task but they are kind at the same time.

I'm sure there are plenty of other good hosts out there and frankly the forums are chock full of threads asking the same.  In my opinion $10.95/mth for hosting at 3Essentials (or $8.95/mth if you pay a couple years in advance) is a way good price for the resources you receive.

Yep.  As John said, it really depends on what you need.  If all you wanted was disk space and an FTP connection, then we might be a little bit out of your price range, but especially if you're new to DotNetNuke, I'd definately say come on over!

Also, as John mentioned, we heavily optimize our customers websites for maximum performance.  We handle clearing out old logs, defragging your database, and a lot more, and of course, you have the complete ability to opt out of each optimization as you see fit.  If you're interested in a full list, you can take a look at this KB artickle in our support system that explains what we do and how it benefits you:
