I'm curious if anyone is willing to share there advise on when to create a dotnetnuke module vs creating a seperate web application and using an IFrame to access the application.

Basically, I have a DNN website and I have a few existing web applications that I use the IFrames module to allow access to those applications.

As new functionality has been need for the DNN website I have created new modules. Lately, I have been wondering how I should be determining whether or not I should be creating new modules or whether I should be creating web applications and accessing them through IFrames. Is it the simplicity of the functionality needed or is it more than that?

Please share your thoughts.

I think of each module as it's own web application.  Each module is able to leverage all of the work that has gone in to the DNN application so there is little or no duplication of effort.

Also not using IFrames for anything I don't have to worry so much about locking all the users into having to use IE.  There is a better chance for them to access the information they want using the tools they want.
