All,

I have been developing web sites in DNN for a while and I have a project in which I really need advice. I am developing a site that has creative that requires that the home page main content area rotates or scrolls with four different images and related html text copy.  I have tried a couple different modules (dynamic tabs, rotator, etc) and they work to rotate images well but not a collection of DIV layers.  I'm new to DHTML and don't have any experience in AJAX and not even sure if thats a good approach.  Perhaps a custom module but I need advice and direction.

Any products thoughts or advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

 Hi Richard

I have just installed a content rotator from GumboSoft.
Its very good.

Rotators need to be able to deal with a lot of different types of copy. This one also allows a module to be rotated.
A nice touch is the abilty to define templates with tokens such as [IMAGE] thus potentially solving a major problem with rotators - site admins!

IMO: Ajax is a good way to deal with rotation and does not require any "player" download like flash.

Does it work with Divs. Yes - just tested this here - slide 9 is a no tables layout using only divs, the css is probably best put in the portal.css.
The skin on this page also uses no tables. http://www.royal-southern.co.uk/Staff/IansExperiments/tabid/283/Default.aspx

Rotaing modules briefly tested: an events sub calendar, an embedded flash video player, Documents, Ventrain's Latest Articles,

Actually I so liked the simple interface, the fact that it just did what I needed plus it gave me some things I had not expected (like tokens) I bought Gumbo's ajax accordion and tabs too.  $35 each!

Hope this helps

Ian
