From the Purchase webpage:

"DNN Corp. will correct all issues, assuming they are traced to the certified product itself.  Professional Edition customers also have prioritized access to any software updates, feature releases or documentation changes."

Does this mean the community edition will lag behind in getting software updates? By how long?

Tony, i think it's better to wait for the official corporation information to be released, rather than speculate, but at a guess i'd say it would be similar to the situation today with sponsors i.e. the sponsors get access to a private forum that is closely monitored by the coreteam, and they get an opportuntity to play with/test any proposed releases before they become public, so they can test custom modules/upgrades etc. (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Partners/Sponsors/tabid/938/Default.aspx ) . AFAIK The builds will always go out at the same time - in fact the professional edition is the core edition, they'res just a few additional things overlaid over the core edition during the build process (different default skin, licencing module etc.). We've often talked about this at core chats and I expressed the concern of ending up like redhat i.e. fedora is always behind RHEL, but the corp members indicated that this is not in any plans, the community edition and pro edition share the same source code repository.

I had some concerns too. I can see me using the Community Edition for simpler sites and going for a Pro Edition for mission ciritcal sites, but I think there needs to be information more readily available about the Pro edition. Like, why would I choose it? Having support available is one reason I would choose it, but rpice might be another. I sent in the form about the Pro Edition hours ago and have not received a reponse.

Why isn't there a features listing, comparison chart and price listed on the site? And, as for the community edition lagging behind, I certainly  hope not. DNN has always touted its platform as suitable for mission ciritcal sites so I expect that all the ones I have built to this point would still be viable under the DNN coporation business model. I would hope that the Pro Edition would not cause my existing sites to be considered second rate and not worthy of further resrouces.

Note: today is a public holiday in the US so I'm not surprised you haven't heard anything back yet.

As has been stated a number of times elsewhere, further information is coming. AFAIK the plan is for a few stages of release, first of all the pro edition offering, followed by a reseller option (so site developers can sell on a support option to their customers and receive a percentage of the cost themselves). I'm sure the corp will provide further details on what the support option entails (e.g. SLA, access etc.)

Personally i think this is a huge win for the entire community, for a long time DotNetNuke has got by on little or no revenue, and any money made from sponsorships/advertising has been plowed back into hardware/development. Having funding and (hopefully) a revenue stream from a support offering, will allow the corp to substantially increase in this area, and I'd expect this to reflect across all areas e.g. dedicated staff means more ambitious releases can be planned (and delivered as permanent resources can give more accurate estimates than volunteer coders), staff can handle backoffice tasks such as ensuring projects go through the release tracker quicker, additional marketing/PR etc will benefit everyone, plus the existance of a professional offering will allow larger companies to consider DNN - any move further up the enterprise can only end up with benefits for all e.g. more jobs, more sales opportunities for vendors/module developers etc.
