I'm running  DNN 4.09.00.
When I setup the SMTP settings in the host and run a Test,  it succeeds in sending an email confirmation to the correct account.  However,  when trying to email a newsletter,  although it says "email sent correctly",  the email never gets sent out,  and if multiple emails are addressed in the newsletter,  the server times out.  Is there something else I should be setting up that I'm missing?  It doesnt make sense to me that the SMTP test would work fine but wouldnt work elsewhere.

I am hosting on a friends server and using his smtp server.  Is there some settings I should request him to make on his server?

Thanks in advance!

make sure, the SMTP server is allowing relaying. I assume, the newsletter shall be sent out with a FROM address in a different domain than the recipient and/or SMTP server domain.
