For what it's worth:
I tried it with a "clean" FF copy and still saw the problem (~50% CPU for FF process).  My "clean" FF has no add-ons and the following plug-ins:  Flash, Silverlight, JAVA, Acrobat and Microsoft DRM.  That's on an older single core HT P4 with 3GB RAM.
