We are in the process of developing the content and using one of your business templates with a flash banner.  I have been told by the host that supports the template that I cannot edit the Flash Banners as the Administrator as you have advertised.

What is the truth?  If I can, how do I do it? If not, WHY?

Business templates? What business templates?

We don't supply flash banners by default.

What exactly do you mean by "edit flash banners"?

Where exactly did "we" advertise this? (just curious in case we need to arrange a refund)

NB Most banner management is usually done via the vendors area, if you google dotnetnuke vendors banners you might get somewhere if you search the first two or three pages of google.

What module are you using?

What version of DNN are you using?

Sure you are posting in the right forum?

Or are you after after a third party supplier ?

Hope this helps... but need a lot more info..

The truth:

You cannot edit Flash without a Flash editing program.  There is no Flash editor included with DNN.  There has never been any Flash anything included with DNN at any time in its history.  You cannot edit Flash from DNN as an administrator.

You can edit Flash objects by purchasing Flash from Adobe.

The reason you cannot edit Flash from within DNN is that Flash is not a function of DNN.  It is simply an object you can place in a web site, as are graphic images.  You can't edit video or music in DNN either, for the same reason.

You are mistaken in what you have seen or been told.  DNN doesn't provide business templates and doesn't allow editing of Flash as administrator, and never has.

Alex, I appreciate your response, but I am not sure that I have defined my problem correctly after reading your response.  I am new to this "chat" forum and I am not sure if my reply will be posted, so I am asking that you send me your e-mail address so that I can send you the link to our developing site so that you can see what I am trying to describe.  I don't want to publicize the we site as it is on this forum.  My e-mail address is : blwyatt@daileyresources.com

The Banner that came with the Template states that it is "fully customizable", "add your image and text", "set Banner width and height & alignment", "no flash knowledge required", "set default text options", "set text properties", "Add URL Hyperlink to text", "FULL DOCUMENTATION INCLUDED", "Set Transition speed and order", "Customizable XML Based Flash Banner",

All of the above would lead me to believe that I can do it, but the edit functions in the template do not give me the ability to do any of the above..

I "thank you" for your response in advance and your quick response to my earlier post.  The web site is very important to our business and I need the functionality described in the 'Template.  I chose the template after reviewing many of those available.  I need to be able to change the text, image and all the things described in the advertising for the template.

Bob
