Hello,

I have just had a clients 4.8 DNN defaced by the above.  They replaced logo.gif with a rude anti MS image.

Their victims are located here: http://www.evilc0der.com/defacer/1/Fribo/

All the recent sites are DNN sites but I do not know what versions.

Is this a known issue? Has this been resolved in the latest verison of DNN?

Regards,

Lee.

This is an old issue, that was discovered in the 4.8.2 release. We fixed it in the 4.8.3 release (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/News/SecurityPolicy/SecurityBulletinno17/tabid/1162/Default.aspx) almost a year ago, and I validated that it is not an issue in either the current 4.9.3/5.0.1 releases, or the forthcoming 5.1.0 release. Whilst the exploit is pretty limited, only allowing upload of files with safe extensions such as txt, if you're running an older version of DotNetNuke than that I recommend you upgrade to the latest version (4.9.3)

Hi and thanks for the help.

It would seem that a certain file on the 4.8 build if called directly (without a login) could be used to upload files. I assume this isn't news and has been fixed.
