Hey all,

I'm putting together a revised DNN online community portal, and I'd love to gather input on the Top 10 DNN core / free / commercial modules (one list). What are your favorites? In order, here are mine (well, 6 of the 10):

iFinity Google Analytics

Repository

Blog

PTForum**

SmartThinker UserProfile

SmartThinker User Directory

Reports Module

** I wish PTForum were under continued update!

I agree that the SmartThinker modules are good one.  I'm nervous about the new development process.  I've begun a project with ActiveModules' Active Social.  It's not inexpensive, but it looks quite good so far.

I'll add to your list:

  • Effority's Workflow HTML
  • ZLDNN's Module Wrapper
  • DNNStuff's Aggregator
  • Mandeep's LiveContent

Here's a similar thread from earlier this year (though its subject is not constrained to free modules):

  http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/118/threadid/285016/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I'd mentioned the free, open source "Advanced Datagrid" (ADG) module in that thread but I've since moved to supporting the core "REPORTS" module instead as it is also open-source and now does more than the final release of ADG.  Also: The free "SQLView" module I mentioned adds querystring support that REPORTS doesn't have (yet), so it's still one of the freebies I like to use when I need a simple dynamic query.

Adding one to the list:

  • iFinity FriendlyURL

In no particular order, here are a few of my favs:

  • Bi4ce NukeDK (Listx) - Now Open Web Studio
  • Ventrian News Articles
  • Bring2Mind Document Exchange
  • iFinity FriendlyUrlProvider (not really a module, but deserves a mention)
  • iFinity.DNN.GoogleSiteMapProvider (again, not really a module but deserves a mention)
  • Ventrian Simple Gallery
  • DNNStuff Aggregator
  • DnnModules Ultra Flash Player
  • Snapsis PageBlaster

Since writing this post, we have had a lot of success with Active Modules Active Social. So, I'd add that in there, for anyone considering an online community.
